self-made objects

the tokyo based artist and interaction designer presented his self-made objects. a collection of household devices such as alarm clocks, tv-sets, blenders or toasters that experience their very own and long overseen subjectivity: taking control of their functions and thereby using themselves they are becoming fully-fledged object-subjects. this, while the user as such can only interact through means of empathy, as ibars, a studied sociologist and product designer, explained.

to see some of his thoroughly playful ideas on shifting objects to subjects, visit his page. it also includes work on joysticks as parameters of control linking computer gaming and household culture, self-reflexive nouvelle vague films and some more ideas worth exploring.
